Three octogenarians were among a huge turnout of about 800 entrants at this morning's Christmas park run in Harrogate.

The festive run was so popular organisers ran out of tokens to issue to people when they crossed the finishing line.

Some ran the five kilometre route, which consists of three laps of a section of the Stray; others walked. Many wore Santa hats to spread the Christmas cheer.

Those taking part included Robert Hill, Martin Weeks and Tony Lebeda-Chapman, who are all members of Nidd Valley Road Runners and aged over 80.

Martin sent us a photo of the three of them at this morning's race.

Harrogate park run is usually held at 9am every Saturday on the Stray and is free to enter.

Other local park run venues Fountains Abbey, near Ripon, and Conyngham Hall, Knaresborough, are due to stage 5k runs on New Year's Day as well as their usual Saturday events.
