The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms tomorrow (June 14) — when the Great Knaresborough Bed Race takes place.
The warning, which is in place from midnight tonight until 6pm tomorrow, says “sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures”.
The 90 teams taking part in the crazy 2.4-mile dash around town and through the River Nidd, plus the tens of thousands of spectators expected to flock to Knaresborough to witness the fun, will be hoping the heavens don’t open.
You can read a full guide to the event here.
Temperatures are expected to peak at 21 degrees centigrade and there is a chance of rain throughout the day.
However, an amber warning for thunderstorms has been issued for parts of the south-east and East Anglia.
