Travellers set up encampments at two locations in Harrogate over the weekend.
A group arrived at Harrogate Golf Club car park on Saturday afternoon (April 26).
The Stray Ferret also received reports of Travellers pitching up on land at Jennyfields park the same day.
In an email to members, seen by the Stray Ferret, the golf club board said it had taken “immediate action” to regain the land.
It said:
Some members may already be aware that a Traveller family moved onto the car park this afternoon. We have been advised that others may follow.
The board has taken immediate action. A civil enforcement agent is scheduled to serve an eviction notice early tomorrow, with the aim of regaining possession of the land by Monday at the latest.
The board added that it was working to resolve the matter “quickly, with minimum disruption and damage”.
The Travellers have since left the site.
Meanwhile, North Yorkshire Council served an eviction notice on travellers on Jennyfields on Sunday (April 27).
The Stray Ferret has asked the authority for further details on the encampment and will provide more information when it is available.
