A house near Summerbridge suffered major damage last night (June 30) when a tumble dryer caught fire.
Both fire crews from Harrogate, along with firefighters from Knaresborough and Ripon were called to the blaze at 7.22pm.
They discovered a tumble dryer in a bedroom on the first floor of the terraced property had caught fire and burnt through the roof of the terraced house.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus to extinguish the flames using hose reel jets.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said in its incident log:
Crews then checked for further fire spread in the loft space of both the affected property and neighbouring properties using a thermal imaging camera and triple exterior ladders.
The first floor of the affected property suffered 100% fire damage and the ground floor of the property sustained moderate fire damage.
The report added that crews ventilated the property to clear smoke logging.
