Two men were arrested on suspicion of affray after an altercation at Boroughbridge Football Club yesterday afternoon (April 8).
According to a police statement today, the incident involving a group of young people and two adult men occurred at the Aldborough Road ground at about 4pm.
The statement added:
Officers swiftly attended and two men in their 40s were arrested on suspicion of affray.
They have since been released on bail as our enquiries continue.
We understand that incidents of this nature can cause concern within the community. To provide reassurance, officers will be carrying out high visibility patrols in the area over the coming days, offering a visible presence and support to local residents.
No further details of the incident have been revealed.
Police are urging anyone in the area at the time who witnessed the incident to call 101, quoting incident number 12260062506.
