Two new bars will open next week

Two new additions to Harrogate’s nightlife scene will open on Friday (December 6).

A second Irish bar will open in the former Manahatta unit on The Ginnel.

Katie O’Brien’s Irish Tavern currently has pubs in Sheffield, Leeds, Nottingham, Leicester, Newcastle and Durham.

Opening night promises to include an abundance of Guinness, as well as live sport screenings and live music.

The second bar to open will be the Wicked Wolf, which has taken on the unit formerly occupied by the Potting Shed on Montpellier Gardens.

The site has been vacant for around five years but it will now serve drinks and cocktails alongside loaded fries and smash burgers.

It is also set to include a karaoke room, VIP booths and separate rooms each playing different music.

There will be a DJ every Friday and Saturday, and saxophonist Ellie Sax will perform on the opening night.

A major new bar being redeveloped on Harrogate's Parliament Street was also expected to open this month.

The Mayfair Pub and Kitchen will be based in the former Jamie Oliver restaurant and owned by Durham-based Newgate Pubs and Bars.

When the Stray Ferret last spoke with Joe Smith, the man behind the venture, he said:

It will open in mid to late November. It is all looking positive, Harrogate is a lovely area, and it is nice to be a part of it.

The Stray Ferret has contacted the chain for an update as the bar has yet to open.
