A veteran and supercar concours in the centre of Harrogate this weekend attracted large crowds. More than seventy veteran and antique cars were on display in James Street which was closed to traffic. At the same time supercars and hypercars were parked in front of the Yorkshire Hotel.
The veteran car event was organised as part of the annual Yorkshire Veteran Car Tour 2025 which is based in Ripon. The modern supercars were organised by Apollo Capital, based in Harrogate.
On a sweltering day the cars from both ends of the evolutionary motoring scale attraced a huge amount of attention - from both young and old.
Eleven year old Edward Strofton from Harrogate was thrilled:
They are really, really good. I am a huge fan of the modern ones because ever since I found out their speed and what they can achieve, it's all I think about when I see a car.
Harrogate is a really good place to be if you're somebody who enjoys this sort of atmosphere because everywhere you go, you can turn a corner and there's something you don't see every day!

Browen May drove her 1903 Cadillac to the concours. Her husband Phillip had travelled from Hong Kong to join her. Mrs May said her car had received a huge amount of attention:
I think to have more than 75 cars here in Harrogate is fantasic. So many people have come to see the cars. Lots of people and kids are sitting in our car taking photos, it's lovely.

Wendy and Mitch Gross brought their 1903 White Model Three Steam car, made by the White Sewing Machine Company from Ohio, US.
At 3.30pm came the moment many of the car enthusiasts had been waiting for.. the noisy Grand Depart... Some Grand Departs though are easier than others. Watch the veteran car film first and see how hard it is to get the cars going- particularly the steam cars. Then watch the super car Grand Depart.
Organisers hope to repeat the show next year and make it an established part of the Harrogate calendar.
