Simon Weaver was in upbeat mood last night when Harrogate Town stepped-up their preparation for another season in the English Football League.
The Stray Ferret attended Town’s 3-0 loss to Rotherham United last night (July 15).
Despite the result, the manager was adamant his side showed ‘more positives than negatives’ on their return to Wetherby Road.
Harrogate looked sharp in the first half, holding out for 0-0 at the break. But they lacked attacking guile and the South Yorkshire side was first to break the deadlock.
A brilliant Jordan Hugill hat-trick saw the Millers cruise to victory in the second half.
But Weaver was not fazed, and voiced his approval at the increased quality of balls put into the box by his side.
He added his players will now know the ball is going to come into the box with quality and that they will “start gambling a bit more”.
Summer signings Jack Evans and player of the match Tom Bradbury both earned praise them for their pre-season performances so far.
Town's next pre-season fixture is at home to Barnsley on Saturday at 3pm.
