A nine-year-old girl has made her first hole-in-one at a course in Harrogate.

Charlotte Roberts was playing in a junior golf tournament, the Champions of the Future Tour, at Rudding Park last Sunday (October 12) when she hit the ace.

It happened on the second hole on the spa resort course – a 99-yard hole called Augusta, named after the famous Masters venue.

In a heartwarming video captured by her golf instructor, PGA professional Mark McGeehan, Charlotte does a double-take as she walks past the hole — suddenly realising she’s made the shot. The girl looks stunned and overjoyed, and as family and friends rush to congratulate her she exclaims "how did I do that?"

You can watch the video below.

A total of 14 young golfers took part in the event, which was organised by Mr McGeehan. Charlotte won her category with a gross score of 28.

Besides her hole-in-one, she also holed out from off the green on the last hole, after a superb pitch, to get down in two shots.

The average non-professional adult golfer has around a one in 12,500 chance of making a hole-in-one.

Mr McGeehan told the Stray Ferret just how difficult it is for a junior:

I’ve only had three hole-in-ones in my life and I’ve been playing professionally for 30 years. That’s one every decade as a professional. That just shows you how difficult it is. I’d like to think it’s something to do with the coach as well!
