Wetherby and Easingwold: Mike Jordan, Reform UK

Boroughbridge, Spofforth and a large part of the Vale of York now fall within the new Wetherby and Easingwold constituency. 

Here, Reform UK candidate Mike Jordan sets out his priorities in the latest of a series of policy statements written by the candidates standing for election in the constituency on July 4. 

Over the past two months I've been out and about in every town and village in this new constituency, so I have a very good grasp of what concerns local residents have. 

Many are concerned about road potholes, the unreliable bus services, and the use of quiet residential areas as rat-runs to avoid delays on main roads. Some are frustrated by numerous power cuts, and even more are concerned about seemingly prolific housing developments which adversely affect smaller villages.

I've served as a councillor for 15 years, and am currently on a planning committee in North Yorkshire, so you can be confident that I have a thorough grasp of how to get things done. 

As your new MP I will have even more power to resolve local issues. I'm here to serve this constituency, not to join the usual smug Westminster warriors.

Our country has so much potential, but both Labour and the Conservatives have broken promise after promise for the last 30 years.

You are worse off, both financially and culturally. Wages are stagnant, we have a housing crisis, our young people struggle to get on the property ladder, we have rising crime, energy bills are some of the highest in Europe, the NHS isn't working, both legal and illegal immigration are at record levels and woke ideology has captured our public institutions and schools.

Only Reform will stand up for British culture, identity and values. We will freeze immigration and stop the boats. Restore law and order. Repair our broken public services. Cut taxes to make work pay. End government waste. Slash energy bills. Only Reform will take back control over our borders, our money and our laws. Only Reform will secure Britain's future as a free, proud and rich nation.

You now have an exciting opportunity to make known your fury at the devastation caused and proposed by all other parties. Vote for me and I will cause great discomfort to the cosy elite.
