A woman has avoided jail after admitting inflicting grievous bodily harm on another woman in Knaresborough.
Ruby Chandler, 21, of Snowdrop Avenue, was sentenced at Harrogate Magistrates Court on Friday (July 3) after pleading guilty to the charge at a previous hearing.
Chandler admitted one count of unlawfully and maliciously wounding a person at a property in Knaresborough on June 3, 2025.
The court heard previously that the named victim had been “remonstrating” with Chandler on the day of the incident.
Magistrates heard that the victim had been banging on the door of the property until Chandler opened it armed with a kitchen knife.
The 21-year-old then held the knife to the victim’s neck before the victim grabbed it to pull it away, which the prosecution said caused lacerations between the thumb and forefinger.
The court sentenced Chandler to an eight-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months.
She was also ordered to undertake 20 rehabilitation activity days and a six-month mental health treatment plan, according to court documents.
Chandler was also ordered to pay a £187 victims’ surcharge and £85 in prosecution costs.
