A community yoga and wellness day is to become an annual fixture in Ripon following its inaugural success.
Saturday's event, which attracted hundreds of people, saw Minster Gardens transformed into an area for meditation, mindfulness and movement, as practioners from across the city marked International Yoga Day by providing free yoga, qi gong and pilates classes, along with complimentary sound baths and taster complemetary therapy sessions.
The day, backed by business support organisation Ripon BID, was organised by Kevin Hill and his wife Liz, who own the Karma clothing and gift boutique in Kirkgate.
Ms Hill, a qualified yoga teacher, whose guided presentation of the deep rest yoga nidra technique has attracted more than 14 million views on YouTube, told the Stray Ferret:
The Mayor of Ripon, Councillor Jackie Crozier, who officially opened the event, is pictured with Kevin and Liz Hill.
It was a lovely day with a good community vibe which attracted hundreds of people of all ages, including some who had never done this sort of thing before.
With every session full throughout the day, we have decided to make it an annual event for Ripon.
We would like to thank Ripon BID for its support and the cathedral for providing a power supply.

Mayor of Ripon, Councillor Jackie Crozier, said:
Folliwing the tremendous success of this year's event, I'm delighted to hear that Liz and Kevin are going to make this an annual fixture for Ripon.
