Fake bookings prompt new policy at Ripon pub
A spate of fake bookings has prompted a Ripon pub to introduce pre-payment for bookings.
The Furlong and Furrow opened on Boroughbridge Road, near the racecourse, in May
Owners Laura Davis and James Campbell, who previously ran the Malt Shovel at Brearton, renamed the venue after it was previously known as the Black A Moor.
The pub has quickly established a reputation for food, but it said on social media today (August 30) it had been forced into a pre-payment system.
It posted:
We are really saddened to have to write this but unfortunately a very kind & thoughtful individual has taken it upon themselves to book multiple fake bookings via our online booking system.
This means that unfortunately, we have taken the decision to add a pre-payment facility to all of our future bookings.
Please note, it will ask for card details but will not take money unless the booking is not honoured. It's desperately sad that someone has chosen to do this. Not only does it affect us and our young familiy’s livelihood, it also affects our lovely staff’s.
We are very saddened to have to do this and we appreciate your support and understanding on this very unfortunate matter.
