Harrogate Town have been relegated to the National League.

Town’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Barnet at the Exercise Stadium this afternoon confirmed the club's relegation

It means Harrogate’s six season stay in the English Football League comes to an end.

They will join Barrow in the National League for the 2026/27 campaign.

In front of a 3,952-strong crowd, the Sulphurites fell behind after five minutes after Callum Stead beat Mark Oxley to give Barnet the lead.

However, Bryn Morris levelled from the penalty spot for Town 24 minutes later and give Simon Weaver's men some hope.

Harrogate were outside the bottom two for much of the afternoon on goal difference as Newport were trailing Barrow.

But, the Welsh side drew level and then took the lead in the 83rd minute to pull Town back into the relegation zone.

Barnet also scored through Phillip Chinedu to make it 2-1 and, ultimately, bring an end to Harrogate’s stay in EFL League Two.

Town, who spent the much of the season occupying the bottom two, will now go back to playing non-league football for the first time since their historic promotion in 2020.

You can read about what Harrogate’s relegation to the National League will mean for the club in our interview with football finance expert, Keiran Maguire, here.
