Harrogate Rugby Club’s director of rugby, Jake Brady, has said the team is building momentum on and off the pitch as an exciting end of season approaches.

The Aces put on a completely dominant performance against local rivals York yesterday (March 7), running out 63-5 winners at Rudding Lane.

With play-off rivals Alnwick and Ilkley both winning, Harrogate’s derby victory was a vital step in the push to secure a top-three spot.

With three games remaining, Harrogate must win them all to ensure they remain in third place or leapfrog Alnwick into second.

Brady is confident they can do it.

Speaking to the Stray Ferret yesterday, he said:

The play-off spots are the target. We’ve got three games left, and we’re going to look to get maximum points from that and see where that leaves us.

But not just that, it’s massive for the club. Harrogate vs York’s a big game, and there were lots of people upstairs having lunch and supporters on the sidelines, so for us to be dominant against them and have plenty of people down to watch us, that’s really good for the club.

Brady also blew the horn for the club’s second team, who are getting stronger. He said that there were four or five internationals representing the seconds against Huddersfield yesterday.

With Alnwick on 79 points, Harrogate on 73 points and Ilkley on 70 points, it’s shaping up to be a thrilling few weeks.
