We have amended our coverage following updates from Leeds Bradford Airport. The airport is now open.
Leeds Bradford Airport has reopened after closing suddenly last night (October 24).
In a statement issued on Friday night, the airport said it had taken the decision to shut overnight due to an “unforeseen issue with the runway”.
It did not disclose what the issue was but said repair teams were working on the issue overnight.
The airport provided a follow-up statement at 6am today announcing operations had resumed.
The latest statement said:
The runway is now open, and the airport is resuming normal operations. Some delays and disruptions may still occur. Please arrive as planned unless your airline has advised otherwise.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
No further updates are expected as operations have resumed as normal, the airport said.
