The Oakdale garage is closed until next month.

Oil giant Shell has promised upgraded facilities at one of its Harrogate petrol stations as it has closed for a refurbishment.

Shell UK’s Oakdale site on Ripon Road shut on Saturday (May 9) for “improvements”.

The garage is just metres away from the Shell Jennyfield location, another petrol station, which remains open.

The Stray Ferret contacted Shell UK for more information, including to ask when the Oakdale site will reopen.

A spokesperson told us:

Shell’s Oakdale service station is being refurbished and is expected to reopen in early June, bringing an improved shop offer and upgraded facilities for the local community.

The site will include a refreshed store with hot food to-go, everyday essentials, a new ATM and improved toilet facilities.

Customers will also be able to access Shell Go+ rewards and seasonal products, building on Shell’s standards for quality, service and value on the forecourt.

We also asked if similar work will be carried out at the Jennyfield garage, which is also on Ripon Road, and if it would close.

The Shell spokesperson said they understood there are “no plans for the Jennyfield site, and it will continue to operate as normal”.
