Prime Minister Rishi Sunak opened a new day care centre during his visit to Harrogate yesterday.
The Stray Ferret reported Mr Sunak joined Andrew Jones, the Conservative MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough at the Harrogate Bus Company yesterday.
Later in the day he opened the first day care centre provided by non-for-profit organisation Harrogate Neighbours.
The centre is located at The Cuttings, on Station View in Harrogate and enables people requiring extra care to live independently. Run by Greenfield Court Care, it provides a safe space for older people to enjoy interactive activities and socialise.
Mr Sunak, who was accompanied by Mr Jones, was given an overview of the new facility which includes themed activities, arts and crafts, classic puzzles and games, snooker, gardening, film screenings and access to local amenities in the community.
The Prime Minister, who spent time talking to clients and staff, said:

The day centre comes as part of a response to a visit from Chief Medical Officer, Professor Chris Whitty in October 2023.
Chief medical officer Chris Whitty's report Health in an Ageing Society highlighted how care providers can support older people living in the local community.
Social isolation was a common theme in the report and the centre hopes to combat this by providing activities. Clients also enjoy a freshly prepared main meal and light tea to take home.
