A national chain of vets has opened a 24-hour hospital in Harrogate.
The Stray Ferret previously reported on CVS Group's plans to open a “state-of-the art veterinary hospital" in Adam House. The company operates 500 veterinary practices in the UK and Australia.
Its new practice on Ripon Way, just off Ripon Road close to where the new Tesco is being built, welcomed its first customers on Monday (July 8).
The site has five consultant rooms, two surgery theatres, a CT scanner, a dental suite, and specialist radiography and ultrasound equipment.
Called The Harrogate Vet, the practice is open for routine appointments from Monday to Saturday and will also cater for emergency visits outside these hours.
The practice originally opened on Leeds Road in 2019 and is owned by parent company and integrated veterinary services provider CVS UK Ltd.

Veterinary surgeon Diane Cole previously told the Stray Ferret:
We’ve always wanted to open a second site that offers 24-hour care. We’re all about providing the best possible service and we know to do that we need to offer 24-hour care.
It just doesn’t seem fair to have to refer people to practices in Wetherby, Leeds or Ripon when they live in Harrogate. We’re also hiring more vets with specialised certificates, so we’ll be able to deal with much more specialised cases and complex surgeries at the new site.

CVS UK Ltd released a statement which said:
Based over two floors, this new £1.6 million facility will house the very latest veterinary facilities and equipment.
The services and facilities provided by the Harrogate Vet remain unchanged at Leeds Road.

The firm plans to expand its team of vets, nurses and receptionists as part of the expansion.
The Harrogate Vet treats all small animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and tortoises.
