Take the kids to a one-stop-shop festive event

Harrogate’s ice rink and Christmas Funland started last weekend and is on until Christmas Eve.

Featuring a giant ice rink, crazy golf, and classic fairground games with a festive twist, kids can also have a meet and greet with Santa and go to the pantomime show. 

Don't forget to watch out for the mischievous Yorkshire Grinchm who will be up to no good pulling some festive pranks. Read more about the event here, and you can see our gallery of images from the festivities here.

Buy last-minute unique gifts at a Christmas market

There's been a wide range of festive markets taking place this December; for the full list click this link.

And this week, Real Markets, which hosts its markets across a variety of Yorkshire locations, is putting on a Harrogate Christmas Farmers' Market with festive food, drink and gifts on offer.

Shop carefully curated products and local speciality produce from the friendly and knowledgeable stallholders.

Go to a crochet Christmas party

Listen to carols by professional singers

Choir Jervaulx Singers stages a Carols by Candlelight event every Christmas, performing a cappella carols in candlelight.

Taking place at St John’s Church in the village of Ripon, its soloists will be performing songs by John Rutter, Herbert Howells, Becky McGlade and more.

And with a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie in hand, it’s sure to get you in the festive mood if you’re not already.

Watch a duo of films at a festive horror pop-up

It’s not for the faint-hearted, but instead of Christmas rom-coms, how about an evening of cult classic films?

Dead Northern, a company that creates unique horror movie-inspired events, is putting on a chilling Christmas double of feature films at Starling.

Screening Tales From The Crypt at 6.30pm followed by Black Christmas at 8.30pm, be prepared to be scared.
