An Asian cafe is moving to a more central location in Harrogate.

65 Degrees, which was previously based on East Parade, will be the newest addition to Westminster Arcade on Parliament Street.

The arcade unit's bigger kitchen will enable the cafe to expand its menu to include a wider range of Asian cuisines, such as Korean and Japanese dishes.

The small kitchen in its previous site, which opened in December 2022, limited the options to basic Asian-style sandwiches and cakes.

The cafe claims to be the only establishment in Harrogate which serves the trending souffle pancake and bubble waffle dishes.

Owners Joseph Kwok, Barry Leung and Roy Ho moved to Harrogate from Hong Kong around 2021. They were not previously acquainted but became friends after their moves, and quickly business partners too.

The Stray Ferret recently published an article about the challenges faced by small business owners in the arcade, which included limited footfall.

But 65 Degrees' owners say they are not concerned about this and that the arcade's more central location will actually increase footfall compared to the more isolated position of their original premises.

They also feel confident that the loyal customer base it has already grown will continue to visit.

The name of the cafe is a nod to the optimum temperature for steaming milk when making the coffees served to their customers.

The opening date was originally due to be the end of this month but plumbing and electrical issues have made this unrealistic. The owners now hope to be open by mid-July at the latest.
