A longstanding Harrogate hair salon is undergoing a rebrand under new owners.

Baroque Hair on King’s Road is now co-owned by Katie Blair, 28 and Simran Sond, 26.

They are rebranding the venue to become Nyne.

The new owners have both worked as stylists at Baroque for a number of years. Ms Sond started at the salon aged 15 while Ms Blair moved from a Knaresborough company aged 21.

The salon changed ownership two years ago and this year Ms Blair and Ms Sond were offered the opportunity to take it on after the current owner planned to take a step back from the business.

The salon officially opened as Nyne yesterday (December 11) and the new branding will be installed in the coming weeks.

Ms Blair said:

We want to keep the luxury vibe but breathe some new life into it. It will be the same, just better, we are keeping the same team but want to make it younger and fresher.

We want to build it up because it is a great salon. We will also create new jobs and utilise the beauty room in the future.

We chose NYNE as its mine and Sims astrology numbers added together and represents ambition and passion which we think works perfectly.

She added that the salon is “more of a spa experience than a regular haircut in a salon” and that they haven’t refurbished the unit because “it’s already beautiful”.

Ms Blair said:

We are taking on new clients and this will increase when we get more staff in the future. At the moment we have a luxury clientele but we’re not snobby and anyone is welcome.

I want people to know we are still open and emphasise that we are two women under 30 who are ready to work hard and have lots of exciting plans.
