A BBC Film production featuring Ralph Fiennes is being shot at a Harrogate hotel today.
The Choral stars BAFTA-winning actors Fiennes, who is best known for his role as Voldemort in Harry Potter and Amon Goeth in Schindler’s List, and Jim Broadbent.
A film crew set up this morning to shoot at the Crown Hotel in the centre of the town.
The stars were spotted shooting in Saltaire, near Bradford, yesterday and filming is due to take place at the Crown Hotel for the next three days.
However, crew members told the Stray Ferret that Fiennes was not due to be in town today.
The production, which was written originally by Alan Bennett and is directed by Nicholas Hynter, takes place in the fictional Yorkshire town of Ramsden in 1916.
It tells the story of a local choir, led by Dr Guthrie (Fiennes), whose numbers have dwindled because of men being called up to fight in the First World War. It therefore recruits a crop of teenagers ahead of their imminent draft into the army.
According to the BBC, the film “explores the humour and humanity at the heart of a community facing an uncertain future”.
The film will be distributed by Sony Pictures Classics, but a release date has not been announced.
