A lorry has shed a load of bricks between Ripon and Harrogate on the A61.

The incident is believed to have occurred shortly after 10.30am this morning.

North Yorkshire Police initially said in a statement the lorry had shed its load at Wormald Green. It later updated the statement to say other stretches of the A61 were affected.

We're currently dealing with a lorry that has shed it's load of bricks on the A61 near Wormald Green.

Officers are with the lorry and we have contacted North Yorks Highways to arrange for the road to the be clear.

The lorry has travelled between Ripon and Harrogate and shed rubble at various locations along the carriageway.

A witness told the Stray Ferret they had encountered rubble and mud on the road at Killinghall. They said:

“It’s like Dodgems with cars trying to avoid the bricks.”
