A charity concert is to be held in memory of a well-known Harrogate businessman this month.
Martin Gerrard, a former president of Harrogate District Chamber of Commerce, died aged 69 in June.
He was known for his involvement in the town’s business community, including his 49-year career with Barclays and a spell as director of Harrogate Business Improvement District.
Mr Gerrard retired as a premier relationship manager at Barclays in March 2022 and went on to become an associate at Williams Investment Management.
His family is now hoping to commemorate what would have been his 70th birthday in a special way, by hosting a classic music and dance concert.
Nick, Mr Gerrard's brother, is organising the event, and Nick's wife will be playing the flute.
Mr Gerrard’s niece – and Nick’s daughter – Hannah will perform a dance on the evening, while people can also look forward to a live violinist and pianist.
Nick said there will be a “beautiful medley” of music, as well as readings, and guests can expect a range of pieces by Bach, Chaminade, Massanet, Doppler and Schubert.

The event is in aid of Saint Michael’s Hospice Harrogate, where Mr Gerrard spent his last few weeks.
A funeral was held at St Peter’s Church on July 5, where £1,400 was raised for the hospice.
Nick told the Stray Ferret he does not have a specific target in mind for the charity concert, but added he would like to raise as much money as possible for “such a great cause” that “deals with people in distress”.
Saint Michael’s “makes it as comfortable and acceptable as possible”, Nick added.
The Martin Gerrard Memorial Concert will be held at the Wesley Centre, on Oxford Street, in Harrogate.
It will take place on Saturday, September 28, and will begin at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £15, or £5 for under 16s, which are available on the door or by email nickgerrard12@gmail.com.
