Children's recreation at a Ripon playground will go with a bit more zip next year thanks to a £62,000 windfall.
A zip line will be installed at the Grove Lane play area off Quarry Moor Lane, after councillors enthusiastically voted in favour of the development.
Lee Jones, an officer in North Yorkshire Council's parks and grounds department, attended last week's full city council meeting to tell members about the proposal and answer any questions.
Following a unanimous vote, he was given the go-ahead to place an order for the play equipment.
Council leader Andrew Williams said:
The money has come as a commuted sum from the sale of the former Ripon Cathedral Choir School on Whitcliffe Lane, which is now being developed for housing.
The only stipulation was that the funds had to be spent on enhancements at Grove Lane and we hope that the zip line can be in place by next spring.
Zip lines are already in use and proving popular in Harrogate's Valley Gardens and on Fysche Field in Knaresborough, next to the town's new leisure and wellness centre.
