A runner has been bitten by a dog at a reservoir near Harrogate.

Police today appealed for the dog owner to come forward following the incident at Fewston Reservoir.

It happened at 6.45pm on Saturday July 6.

The male runner needed medical treatment following the attack.

North Yorkshire Police has released a statement, which said:

Two women were walking two large dogs, and one of these dogs on the lead jumped up at the runner and bit them, causing a minor injury.

The exact breed of the dog is unknown at this stage.

We are appealing for any witnesses and for the owner of the dog to make contact so we can discuss the incident.
