Former Prime Minister Theresa May will be among the line-up at this year’s Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival.
Ms May, who published the book The Abuse of Power last year, will talk about her time in government and the importance of integrity and accountability in leadership.
Ms May, who was Prime Minister from 2016 to 2019 and is now a Conservative peer, will join bestselling novelists at the festival, which is organised by the arts charity Harrogate International Festivals and sponsored by Raworths Solicitors.
It will take place at the Crown Hotel from October 10-20.
This year’s special guests also include author Victoria Hislop, writer and comedian Adam Kay, and GP and bestselling author Dr Amir Khan.
Ms Hislop will discuss the inspiration behind her novel The Figurine and the significance of cultural heritage and her passion for Greek history and culture.
Historian and author Alison Weir, whose latest book, Mary I: Queen of Sorrows, will discuss the monarch’s personal struggles alongside her legacy in British history.
Doctor-turned-comedian and writer Adam Kay, author of the memoir This Is Going to Hurt, will talk about his latest book, Undoctored, and share candid stories from his time in healthcare.
Also taking to the Harrogate stage is actor, comedian and writer Doon Mackichan, whose credits include The Day Today, Two Doors Down and the Emmy-winning Smack the Pony, who will discuss her feminist memoir My Lady Parts.
Other festival highlights include etiquette coach and Sunday Times bestselling author William Hanson, BBC journalist and broadcaster Ros Atkins and former SAS medical officer Richard Villar.
Raworths Children’s Festival returns on October 19 and 20 as part of this year’s literature festival.
GP and bestselling author Dr Amir Khan who will shine a light on modern family life in his new, illustrated non-fiction children’s book, How Families Are Made.
He is joined by award-winning children's author and illustrator Rob Biddulph.
