The rescue at Brimham Rocks

Volunteer rescuers helped two young girls who got stuck on rocks at Brimham Rocks.

The girls set out exploring the rock formations at the National Trust-owned site near Pateley Bridge on Monday (August 12) but were unable to get down.

A small team from Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association attended and were able to lower the girls via a rope system.

In a post on social media, the association said:

Two young girls, whilst out having a great time exploring the rock formations at Brimham Rocks, found themselves cragfast and unable to descend one of the large boulders.

A small team was despatched and once on site set up an effective rope system to allow the young explorers to be lowered quickly and safely to the valley floor.

We wish the girls an enjoyable rest of their school holidays.
