A plan has been submitted to convert the upper floors of Harrogate’s Barclays Bank building into flats.
Hornbeam Park Developments has tabled the proposal to North Yorkshire Council for the site on James Street.
It would see the first and second floors of the building converted into eight flats. However, the ground floor and basement levels would remain as retail.
According to planning documents, the flats would be a mixture of one and two-bedroom properties.
Cycle storage would also be provided at basement level.
In its plans, the developer said the scheme would help to provide housing to the Harrogate area.
It said:
The proposal will help support the creation of much-needed housing, giving the high street a new lease of life, while still retaining part of its retail character.
North Yorkshire Council will make a decision on the proposal at a later date.
