A former Harrogate Liberal Democrat councillor has been charged with posting anti-semitic social media posts.
Pat Marsh, 77, who served as a councillor for more than three decades, is due to appear before Harrogate Magistrates Court on November 6.
She has been charged with displaying threatening, abusive or insulting written material with intent to or likely to stir up racial hatred.
The alleged posts were made on the social media platform X in January and February 2024.
Ms Marsh, who represented Stray, Woodlands and Hookstone on North Yorkshire Council, resigned as a councillor in February 2024.
She was for many years the Liberal Democrat leader in Harrogate and Knaresborough.
