A fundraiser has been set up to support two people after their Spofforth home was destroyed by a fire.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters were called to a property in the village just after 2am yesterday morning (August 19).
The occupants, and occupants of surrounding houses, were out of the building by the time fire crews arrived.
A gofundme page, set up by a man named Harry, has been launched to raise funds to support a mother and son named Ben and Tracy, whose home was affected by the fire.
The Stray Ferret understands the fire did not break out at their home.
The aerial ladder platform was deployed by firefighters. Photos of the blaze show flames engulfing a property and smoke billowing from a house.
The page says Ben and Tracy's lives have been “completely taken away” following the blaze, which “spread so fast it was lucky was no one injured, just minor smoke inhalation and shock”.
A target of £4,000 has been set and the money generated will go towards “getting that first step back to normalcy and getting the things they lost back”.
Photos of the house were shared on the Gofundme page.

The page adds:
It took the fire brigade close to four hours to fully extinguish the fire that was constantly being fuelled by a gas leak that was caused during the fire, which also took over five hours to be turned off by Northern Gas.
They are the most incredible people you can meet that [sic] are always there for you and are so caring to everyone around them, but have had the worst luck possible over the years and now this has happened to them.
The house is completely condemned and is not habitable anymore, with the entire upstairs just being the bare brickwork from how hot the blaze was, and the rooms and the roof are completely burned away, where the most valuable belongings were.
The downstairs area suffered smoke damage and water damage, while a living room ceiling also collapsed.
“Sadly, there were a lot of sentimental items destroyed in the fire that are irreplaceable, and the small amount of things that are left are not in good condition”, the page adds.
Harry, who is behind the fundraiser, said any donation – “no matter how small or large it may be” – would mean the world to the mother and son and will go towards slowly rebuilding their lives.
The gofundme was set up yesterday and has already amassed more than £600 of its target.
A post shared to the Spofforth Village Society Facebook group, which included a link to the fundraiser, also said:
East Park Fire.
Anyone who sees this post please share it around as many places as you can. My best friend Ben and his mum just lost their house to a massive fire in the early hours of this morning and don't have house insurance, so they have lost literally everything they have and are at a complete halt, so any donations if you are able to make will mean the world to them.
The Stray Ferret has approached North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue to ask if the cause of the fire has been established and the extent of the damage caused by the blaze.
