Over 80 decorated Christmas trees have gone on display at St John's Church for the 10th Great Knaresborough Christmas Tree Festival.

The festival sees community groups, school and businesses decorate trees on whatever theme they choose.

Opened by the Bishop of Ripon at a preview night on Friday (December 6), the event runs until December 22.

Visitors are welcome from 10am to 5pm on Saturdays; 12 noon to 4pm on Sundays; and noon to 5pm on weekdays. Refreshments and mulled wine will be available at the weekends.

Admission is free, but there will be programmes and raffle tickets on sale.

Local choirs and music groups will perform live music on the two remaining Saturdays of the festival.

This year's centrepiece display is based on the theme of Good King Wenceslas.
