Knaresborough’s biggest day of the year came round again on Saturday (June 14).

An estimated crowd of about 30,000 flocked to the market town to witness the annual Great Knaresborough Bed Race.

The theme for the beds this year was TV ads.

As for the race itself, which lasts 2.4 miles and finishes with a River Nidd crossing, running aces GH Brooks won their sixth consecutive title.

They beat their personal best with an impressive time of 12 minutes and 58 seconds.

Knaresborough Striders were second again, recording a time of 13:32.

The rest of the awards were as follows:

  • Fastest Female Team – Squashed Hearts
  • Fastest Mixed Team – Parkrunners
  • Fastest non-club Male Team – Crag Rats
  • Fastest non-club Female Team – Squashed Hearts
  • Fastest non-club Mixed Team – Harrogate District Swim Club
  • Fastest Male Junior Team – Live For Today - Dream Team
  • Fastest Mixed Junior Team – Nidd Valley Juniors
  • Fastest New Team – Live For Today - Dream Team
  • Best Dressed Bed – The Rocket Men
  • Environmental Award – Saint Michael's Hospice
  • Tom Brock Services Award – Menwith Hill
