Grantley Hall Hotel has applied for planning consent to vary the number of flights from its helipad.
The five-star hotel near Ripon wants to change the maximum number of operating days of helicopter flights per calendar month from four to eight, and increase the maximum daily number of helicopter visits from two to four. The maximum number of 72 helicopter visits per year would remain unchanged.
Supporting documents uploaded to North Yorkshire Council’s planning portal by consultancy Avigation Ltd show that noise levels would also remain unchanged.

It adds:
Avigation's reviews and analyses have determined that there no technical aviation, regulatory and/or noise impact constraints to GHH's proposed planning application.
Air traffic control company National Air Traffic Services also said it had “no safeguarding objection to the proposal”.
Grantley Hall Hotel is grade II listed and stands within the Nidderdale National Landscape and Skell Valley Special Landscape Area, but Historic England stated that it would not be offering advice on the case – a formula of words that implies no objection.
A decision is expected to be made on the matter by January 15.
Grantley Hall Hotel opened in 2018 after a four-year, multi-million-pound renovation, and is widely regarded as one of the north of England’s finest hotels. The 47-room hotel was named Independent Hotel of the Year 2025.
