Harrogate and Knaresborough are set to get the festive season underway as Christmas markets return to town.
The annual Harrogate Christmas Fayre will get underway on Friday (December 5) at 10am.
In Knaresborough, the two-day Christmas market is the highlight of a range of seasonal activities.
The Harrogate fayre, organised by Tameside firm Market Place in partnership with Visit North Yorkshire, will feature up to 40 traditional wooden chalets and the return of the Candy Cane Express road train.
Andy Pidgen, Harrogate market manager, said:
We are delighted to bring the Harrogate Christmas Fayre back for another year, introducing exciting new features alongside much-loved favourites to further enhance the market experience.
The fayre is not only a celebration of cherished festive traditions but also an important contributor to the local economy, attracting visitors from across the region to enjoy the unique seasonal charm of Harrogate.
This year’s event will run until Sunday, December 14.

Meanwhile, Knaresborough will also get its festive market underway on Saturday (December 6).
The market opens at 10am and feature around 80 stalls selling seasonal goods, decorations, cards, gifts and locally sourced produce, all centred around the Christmas tree in the Market Place.
Elsewhere in the town, visitors can visit the beautiful Christmas Tree festival at St John’s Parish Church or Mother Shipton’s Cave Christmas Experience (pre-booked tickets only), as well as the usual attractions of Knaresborough’s castle grounds, Tudor Courthouse museum (open 10am-3pm on the Saturday), and Knaresborough Heritage Centre.
The market, which runs until 4.30pm on Sunday (December 7), will close with a firework finale set against the dramatic backdrop of Knaresborough’s viaduct and the Nidd Gorge.
