A Harrogate funeral worker has cycled the length of Britain to raise money for children’s charity Barnardo’s.
Geoff Taylor, who is the funeral services manager for the Harrogate branch of Co-Operative Funeralcare on Knaresborough Road, cycled over 1,000 miles from Land’s End to John o’Groats in 13 days.
His epic trip raised over £600 towards his £1,000 goal on his JustGiving page.
The 67-year-old, who previously swam the English Channel to raise over £5,000 for the Marie Curie Hospice in Bradford, said:
I had plenty of ups and downs along the way and I wasn’t sure if I would have the stamina to cycle the whole journey, so it was quite emotional reaching the finish line. In total, I climbed 69,000 feet of elevation over 1027 miles – which has been a fantastic experience and extremely rewarding both mentally and physically.
For his next challenge, Geoff intends to cycle from the north to the south of France over Mount Ventoux.
Geoff, who lives in Bingley, said:
I already can’t wait to complete the third and final leg of my mission, where I will cycle from St Malo to Nice to raise further funds for charity.
