Harrogate Ladies’ College has announced the appointment of two new academic leaders.

Paul Dwyer and Siobhan Scully will take on the roles of deputy heads academic for this academic year, after a combined 14 years at the college.

Ms Scully's position as deputy head academic (teaching and learning) focuses on the overall teaching and learning strategy.

Mr Dwyer's post as deputy head academic (pupil progress) will be responsible for college reporting, recruitment, and data.

Ms Scully joined the fee-paying school in 2016 and was formerly a director of teaching and learning aa well as assistant head at Harrogate Ladies’ College.

She said:

Our job is to create a passion for lifelong learning, and we’re committed to improving outcomes for everyone here at college.

I am really excited to work alongside Paul, his work identifying the progress of every child and working with all staff to maximise their progress is exceptional.

After joining college in 2018, Mr Dwyer was joint head of sixth form from 2020 to 2024.

Mr Dwyer said:

I’m fortunate to have had leadership opportunities on both the pastoral and academic side of the school, which I believe will hold me in good stead for this role.

Siobhan and I have worked closely together for a while now, she’s so passionate about everything she puts her mind to. We have some great complementary interests in how we envisage pushing the academic priorities of the school forward.
