A Harrogate man has been accused of a string of violent offences.

Shaun Kent, 55, appeared at York Magistrates Court on Monday (November 18) charged with four offences: assault causing actual bodily harm; assault by beating; theft including theft by finding and intentional strangulation.

All charges relate to the same alleged victim.

According to court documents, Mr Kent intentionally strangled a named woman on August 4.

He is said to have assaulted the same woman causing her actual bodily harm on August 25 and assaulted her by beating her on November 16.

Mr Kent, of East Parade, is also accused of stealing the woman’s mobile phone and bank card on the same day.

The case was transferred to York Crown Court, where the defendant is expected to enter pleas to the charges on December 22.
