A Harrogate man has denied threatening to put a bomb in a woman’s letterbox.

James McGlinchey, of Albany Avenue, appeared at York Magistrates Court on Saturday (January 4) charged with six offences.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges.

It is alleged the 36-year-old threatened to put the bomb in the letterbox of a home in Harrogate on January 1 this year and the woman who lived there feared the threat would be carried out.

Mr McGlinchey is also charged with assaulting a woman on New Year's Eve and New Year’s Day in Harrogate.

It is also claimed that between January 1 and 3, he harassed a named woman without violence. A court document alleges Mr McGlinchey went to the woman’s home and made threats.

Between November 9, 2024, and January 1, 2025, Mr McGlinchey also allegedly harassed another woman without violence by "subjecting her to unwanted contact".

In addition, Mr McGlinchey faces one charge of assaulting a police officer at Harrogate Police Station on January 3

He was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at York Magistrates Court on January 9.
