Harrogate mental health facility to provide overnight call centre
A mental health facility in Harrogate is set to offer weekend outpatient consultations and an overnight telephone call centre.
Hummingbird House, on Victoria Avenue, is the countywide base for child and adolescent mental health services, adult mental health and North Yorkshire Talking Therapies.
It is run by Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, which acquired the building formerly known as Jesmond House in 2024.
The new operating hours, which have been approved by North Yorkshire Council, allow the trust to provide weekend outpatient consultations between 8am and 8pm.
They also permit overnight staff to provide a telephone response service between 8pm and 8am.
However, according to proposals submitted to the council, the move will not see any outpatient visitors or overnight accommodation.
It said:
Approximately six members of staff would undertake clerical and call centre activities overnight, but there would be no outpatient visitors and no overnight inpatient accommodation.
The move comes after the mental health facility opened in October 2025.
The building was previously owned by North Yorkshire Council, whose adult social care staff vacated the premises in 2024. The site was then sold as part of a review of council properties which aimed to save £600,000.
The trust's community teams in Harrogate, which were originally split across three sites - Windsor House, Dragon Parade and Jennyfield Health Centre — are all now based at Hummingbird House.
