Western Primary School in Harrogate has been granted planning permission to install high mesh gates at its premises on Cold Bath Road as a safeguarding measure.
According to the planning application, which was submitted to North Yorkshire Council by the Red Kite Learning Trust in November, the gates will be 2.4 metres (7 ft 10 in) high, to comply with the Department for Education’s security requirements.
They will be made of green-coloured welded mesh and will be set back from the existing perimeter fence by about nine metres (30 feet).
The Red Kite Learning Trust incorporates 16 schools across North and West Yorkshire, including Coppice Valley, Saltergate and Rossett Acre primary schools, and Harrogate Grammar and Rossett secondary schools – all in Harrogate.
The Stray Ferret has contacted the trust for more information.
