A Killinghall surgery is set to relocate to Jennyfields in Harrogate next month.
It was announced last year that Moss Healthcare Harrogate would close its Killinghall practice in October 2024.
The practice said the landlord had decided not to renew or extend the lease of the site on Ripon Road.
The Killinghall practice is one of three operated by Moss Healthcare Harrogate, which also has sites on King’s Road in Harrogate and in Jennyfields.
The company are now in the process of building two new consulting rooms at Jennyfields Health Centre exclusively for the patients of their Killinghall surgery to maintain patient capacity.
The new rooms have been funded by the Integrated Care Board and the NHS Property Service and work began early this month.
They are set to open before the end of October so that patients from the Killinghall site can still access medical care.
Dr Nick Taylor, a senior partner at the company, wrote to patients this week informing them about changes to the practice.
In the letter, which has been seen by the Stray Ferret, Dr Taylor said:
We have been working closely with our local health commissioners, Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) to find an appropriate solution to the loss of the two clinical rooms at this site.
We are pleased to advise that the ICB, in conjunction with NHS Property Services, has managed to secure funding to expand the facilities at Jennyfield Health Centre.
Work started on 2nd September to build two new consulting rooms, exclusively for the use of Moss Healthcare at Jennyfield Health Centre and these rooms will be available for use before the end of October, maintaining patient capacity.
Jennyfield Health Centre
The Jennyfield Health Centre on Grantley Drive site is approximately 2.2 miles from the Killinghall practice and has bus services and multiple parking options in close proximity.
In his letter, Dr Taylor added:
Despite us being unable to secure appropriate and affordable premise in Killinghall at this time, the practice remains committed to the locality and we are continuing conversations with a local landowner about longer term possibilities.
