North Yorkshire Police has concluded an investigation into an attempted arson at a petrol station in Pateley Bridge.
The incident happened between 1.45am and 2.45am on May 14, 2023, at the Dales Market Corner petrol station in the town.
Officers said two men walked onto the forecourt, placed a backpack in the area and set it alight. The backpack then self-extinguished.
Following the incident, police arrested two men in connection with the attempted arson.
A 36-year-old man was arrested on May 14, 2023 on suspicion of arson and criminal damage. He was interviewed and later released on conditional bail.
Meanwhile, a second man, 45, was arrested on June 5, 2023, in connection with the incident. He was bailed while enquiries continue.
Police also issued a CCTV appeal at the time of the attempted arson urging anyone with information on the attempted arson to come forward.
However, a force spokesman confirmed to the Stray Ferret today (February 10) that an investigation has concluded and no charges have been brought in connection with the incident.
They added:
The investigation has concluded and the case is now closed.
