The branch is now based in Pharmacy+Health on High Street.

Knaresborough Post Office will re-open in a new location on Friday, September 20.

The Post Office, which was previously based in a standalone building on the High Street, closed suddenly in June.

The closure came a day after Post Office Ltd announced a consultation on moving the service to Pharmacy+Health with the same postmaster Ankur Singh.

Mr Singh was sole director of VPS PVT Ltd, a Nottingham-based company that entered voluntary liquidation on June 13 owing more than £378,000 to creditors, including £269,180 to HMRC.

The Stray Ferret has followed the saga closely and reported concerns by businesses and Harrogate and Knaresborough MP Tom Gordon about the decision to reappoint the same postmaster, how the process was handled and the merits of basing the branch within a pharmacy.

Post Office Ltd has declined to answer questions on these issues raised by the Stray Ferret.

The organisation said after the consultation closed this month it would indeed move into the pharmacy at 34 High Street.

Today it revealed the reopening date and added the branch will have three serving positions in total; one screened and two open plan.

A spokesperson said in a statement:

After careful consideration of the feedback received during consultation, we remain confident that the layout and location of the new branch will continue to meet customer needs and deliver an excellent service.

The opening hours will be Monday to Friday: 9am to 5.30pm; Saturday: 9am to 1pm.

The closest full postal service until the re-opening is at 51 High Street, Starbeck.
