As the clock ticks down to the 80th anniversary of VE Day on May 8, Ripon stands ready for the celebration and commemoration events being held in the city.
Taking pride of place on Market Square is the life-size knitted replica Churchill Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers (AVRE) 'bunker buster' tank.
The tank was created by Ripon Community Poppy Project and Ripon Men's Shed to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day last June.
It has attracted attention wherever it has been on display, including at Llandudno in North Wales where it was part of the Longest Yarn D-Day Tribute – a large exhibition of creative knitting held last autumn..
This morning (Tuesday) the replica AVRE was transported to Market Square by Ripon Farm Services and will remain in situ until May 9.
It will be a focal point for the VE 80th anniversary events arranged by Ripon City Council for the evening of May 8.
Elsewhere around the square, the skilful work of Ripon Community Poppy Project's award-winning non-stop knitters can be seen in themed displays at a number of strategic locations.
The displays can be seen around the obelisk ...
On bollards ...
On a post box...
And on the railings outside Ripon Town Hall
