Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey has been in Harrogate today as part of the party’s election campaign.

Mr Davey visited Harrogate College, on Hornbeam Park, where he was pictured taking part in an arts class.

The party leader was in the town to support the party’s campaign to retake the Harrogate and Knaresborough constituency from the Conservatives.

Despite languishing fourth in the national polls, Lib Dem candidate Tom Gordon appears to be on track to win in Harrogate and Knaresborough, judging by recent opinion polls.

However Mr Gordon told the Stray Ferret in an interview previously that he was not “taking anything for granted” ahead of polling day.

The BBC has been following Mr Davey's visit. However, the Stray Ferret was not invited to attend.

The Lib Dems are hoping to win the seat for the first time since it was lost to Andrew Jones, Conservative candidate, in 2010.

Voters will head to the polls on July 4 for the general election.

The full list of candidates for Harrogate and Knaresborough are as follows:

  • Tom Gordon, Liberal Democrat
  • Paul Haslam, Independent
  • Andrew Jones, Conservative
  • Shan Oakes, Green Party
  • Stephen Douglas Metcalfe, Independent
  • Jonathan Swales, Reform UK
  • Conrad Whitcroft, Labour

The Stray Ferret will be hosting hustings events in both Harrogate and Ripon next week of election day. You can sign up to attend the Harrogate event here and Ripon hustings here.
