Thousands of Liberal Democrats will head to Harrogate Convention Centre this weekend for the party’s spring conference.
Tom Gordon, the Liberal Democrat MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough, will welcome delegates when he formally opens the event in a speech at 9am on Saturday.
Party leader Ed Davey is due to speak at 11.45am on Sunday.
This will be the first time since 2009 the Liberal Democrats have held their conference in Harrogate.
It will also mark the first time in 16 years that the conference is being hosted in a constituency represented by a Liberal Democrat MP.
It last happened when Phil Willis was MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough. Mr Gordon and Mr Willis are both expected to attend this weekend.
Mr Gordon said:
I am absolutely thrilled that the Liberal Democrat 2025 Spring Conference is coming to Harrogate this weekend. It is a fantastic opportunity to welcome all my colleagues and showcase everything Harrogate and Knaresborough has to offer.
The Harrogate Convention Centre is a fantastic venue with so much to offer, and I am delighted to see it being used to its full potential, welcoming hundreds of guests.
Besides speeches, the agenda includes debates on policy motions, constitutional amendments and reports.
