A building in Pateley Bridge was engulfed by flames last night (September 14).
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service incident log said multiple crews from across the county were called to a “large building fire” on King Street at around 10.12pm.
The site is described as a “commercial and residential premises”.
The incident is still ongoing, the fire service said, adding a cause is set to be determined following a fire investigation this morning.
No further information was released by the fire service. However, Pateley Bridge mayor, Chris Thompson, shared some details online.
Mr Thompson said the “awful fire did not take any lives”, but he believed one person was taken to hospital.
He thanked the “amazing community” for pulling together “in a crisis”, as well as a young man who he understood “got the resident to safety”.
The mayor added:
Thank you to the community who gathered round those whose livelihoods may have been impacted, and to all who just came ready to offer whatever help may have been needed.
Community at its best.
The Stray Ferret has contacted North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service for an update on the cause of the blaze.
