A man is due to appear in court tomorrow (February 12) after a fatal hit-and-run near Pateley Bridge.
Bailey Chadwick, 19, was struck by a vehicle on the B6265 at Lupton Bank, between Pateley and Glasshouses, in the early hours of Sunday, July 20.
Joseph Stott, 25, of Braine Road in Wetherby, is due to appear at Harrogate Magistrates Court accused of drink driving and driving without insurance over the incident.
Mr Stott is alleged to have been nearly six times the drink-drive limit on the night of the incident.
He recorded 199 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath — the legal limit is 35 micrograms — according to the charge.
He has also been charged with failing to stop and report a collision.
North Yorkshire Police said an investigation into the incident remains active and a man remains under investigation for causing death by dangerous driving.
The force has also previously issued a plea for the public not to speculate online so to avoid prejudicing court proceedings.
Bailey was believed to have been walking from Pateley Bridge to Glasshouses on the night of the collision.
He died sometime between 1.44am and 3.10am, police said.
